Yüksel was awarded the contracts for segment I, segment IV and the reservoirs by the SWCC. The water transmission system was built to supply the treated water transmitted from the desalination plant at Jubail to Riyadh and Qassim. The works were implemented under three separate contracts:
Segment I: 18.5 kilometres of 2,000 mm diameter and 206.8 kilometres of 1,600 mm diameter pre-stressed concrete cylinder pipeline (“PCCP”) and all auxiliary structure works. Segment IV: 206.7 kilometres of 1,600 mm PCCP and all auxiliary structure works. Reservoirs: six water reservoirs, each with a diameter of 80 metres and a holding capacity of 50,000 m³. Additionally, 11 water reservoirs, each with diameter of 56 metres and a holding capacity of 20,000 m³ were completed using reinforced concrete.
