The Project covers the design (Civil and MEP) and construction of 7.2 km metro line including 3 no. elevated metro stations, namely QEZ (Qatar Economic Zone), Barwa and Al Wakra. The line starts from Old Airport Road and continues on the median of Al Wakra Main Road as elevated viaduct to depot area and ends at Al Wakra City. Besides, the scope also includes an underpass structure around Al Wakra Station and grading of 1 million m2 depot area.
Elevated viaducts will be constructed using mainly state of the art construction method “precast segmental erection, span by span method”.
In summary, project scope is design and construction of elevated viaduct of 5.8km, at grade line of 0.4km, underpass structure of 1km (only construction), depot grading works and 3ea stations (2ea elevated stations and 1ea elevated/at grade station – Barwa). It has lots of interfaces with many major projects in the vicinity and will be constructed along the busy streets of Doha and Al Wakra.
